Vietnam Airlines will begin regular direct flights to the United States from December 2021, becoming Vietnam’s first and only carrier to offer such a flight service to the North American country.
As of this month the airline will operate two flights weekly between Ho Chi Minh City and San Francisco, using wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and Airbus 350 aircraft to provide passengers with a traveling experience of comfort and convenience.
The regular service follows the inaugural flight that left Ho Chi Minh City on November 28 for San Francisco, lasting 13 hours and 50 minutes. The return flight departed from San Francisco on November 29 night (local time) and arrived in Ho Chi Minh City in the morning of December 1 for a flight time of 16 hours and 40 minutes.
Vietnam Airlines will raise the frequency on the route up to 7 flights/week after the COVID-19 pandemic is under control and the Vietnamese government allows the reopening of regular international routes.
Vietnam Airlines’ regular direct flight service to the United States has once again confirmed the capacity of Vietnam’s aviation industry in general and the national flag carrier in particular, thereby raising the country’s level and consolidating its position in the world’s aviation market.
The establishment of this flight route is considered an important factor in promoting economic, cultural exchange, strengthening relations between Vietnam and the United States, contributing to the strong development and prosperity of the two countries.
Lotusmiles members will be able to enjoy service incentives in line with their membership tier, such as check-in at SkyPriority counters, free baggage allowance and reward miles etc.
Members can deduct miles from their account to redeem award tickets for U.S.-bound flights.
