Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific get highest 7-star safety rating

National carrier Vietnam Airlines and its member budget carrier Jetstar Pacific have secured the highest safety ranking with seven stars from the world’s only safety and product rating agency AirlineRatings.com.

AirlineRatings assesses the safety of each airline based on accredited standards of organisations, including the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), and approval for flights from the European Union. At the same time, the rating agency introduces its own criteria such as no accident resulting in passenger or crew casualties in the last 10 years.

Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific meet all the criteria in this rating, sharing the same ranking with Singapore Airlines, British Airways, American Airlines and Emirates.

In 2017, Vietnam Airlines ensured the absolute safety of 140,000 flights, transporting nearly 22 million passengers.

Jetstar Pacific has passed more than 800 standards to receive the IOSA Safety Certification in September this year.

On AirlineRatings’ evaluation of flight entertainment, meals and other comforts, Vietnam Airlines also achieved a rating of as high as 6.5 out of seven stars for all its three flight classes: Economy, Premium Economy and Business.

In low-cost carrier product rating, Jetstar Pacific was given a 3-star rate out of five, on par with Jeju Air (South Korea), Air Asia (Indonesia) and Cebu Pacific (the Philippines).
