Airbus has handed over to Vietnam Airlines an Airbus A321neo plane on November 14 in Hamburg (Germany), the first in the batch of 20 such aircraft expected to be delivered by the end of 2019. Airbus A321neo (new engine option) is an improved version of A321ceo, the currently main narrow-body plane in Vietnam Airlines fleet of 58 aircraft. With many advantages, the A321neo promises to bring new experience to passengers.
The new aircraft has 203 seats, divided into two classes comprising 8 Business Class seats and 195 in Economy Class. The 18-inch seat, designed to be thinner than the previous version, creates a large space for greater personal space and maximum comfort for passengers.
Especially, Vietnam Airlines’ fleet is equipped with a wireless streaming system for movie programs and music similar to the entertainment standards on Boeing 787 and A350 aircraft. The A321neo wireless streaming system will help Vietnam Airlines redefine the concept of inflight entertainment and provide passengers with an entirely new and unique experience on their personal mobile devices: smartphones, tablets and laptops.
Equipped with Pratt & Whitney’s new PW1100G-JM engine combining with a new Sharklet wingtip, the A321neo reduces fuel consumption by up to 15% on each seat when in service, and continues to decrease by 20% per seat by 2020 through cabin improvements and performance.
With exceptional performance, excellent comfort and range, the A321neo will be operated by Vietnam Airlines on domestic and Asian routes.
