Vietnam Airlines, El Al Israel Airlines Sign Codeshare Agreement
Vietnam Airlines and El Al Israel Airlines (LY) have announced enhanced flight connectivity possibilities between Vietnam and Israel. Under the new codeshare launched in November 2018, passengers will find it easy to fly from Tel Aviv via Hong Kong and Bangkok to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam Airlines will operate flights between Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok/Hong Kong, while LY will run services between Bangkok/Hong Kong and Tel Aviv. The agreement helps passengers book tickets and check-in once with either Vietnam Airlines or LY.
The cooperation expansion does not only create an air link between Vietnam and Israel, but also once again affirms Vietnam Airlines as a pioneer airline in connecting countries and territories with Vietnam to promote economic and cultural exchanges.
Following 25 years in developing diplomatic relations (1973-2018), Israel has become one of Vietnam’s most important partners in the Middle East. The advantage in bilateral economic cooperation lies in the fact that the two economies do not compete with each other, but complement each other, thus trade between Vietnam and Israel has been steadily growing over the past years, reaching an annual average of over $ 1 billion. Filling in the broad picture, air transport plays an important role in connecting and promoting diplomatic relations and trade between the two nations.
