Vietnam Airlines has officially received the last of the 14 A350-900XWB aircraft under lease and purchase contracts with Airbus in April 2019.
The launch at the Airbus Handover Center in Toulouse of France was witnessed by National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and other assembly officials.
The 14th Airbus A350-900 plane, bearing the number of VN-A899, contributes to completing the airline’s wide-body fleet, part of an important development plan on expanding a new generation fleet as Vietnam Airlines moves forward to become a 5-star international airline in the near future.
In July 2015, Vietnam Airlines became the first airline in Southeast Asia and the second airline in the world to operate the new generation of Airbus A350-900 wide-body aircraft. The Airbus fleet has been operational on intercontinental routes to Europe, Australia and Northeast Asia plus the domestic route between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with 4-star international service quality. As of April 2019, the Airbus A350-900 fleet has safely conducted more than 35,000 flights, carrying nearly 9 million passengers.
