Vietnam Airlines to Expand Check-in Kiosks to More Airports Abroad

Vietnam Airlines is scheduled to offer check-in kiosk service at more foreign airports in the near future, including Haneda and Nagoya in Japan, Busan in South Korea, Guangzhou and Hong Kong in China as well as in Singapore, after successful implementation at various airports home and abroad.

The service has so far been available at a number of airports, such as Narita, Kansai and Fukuoka in Japan, South Korea’s Incheon, Germany’s Frankfurt and UK’s Heathrow, as well as at Vietnam-based airports Noi Bai, Da Nang and Tan Son Nhat.

The check-in kiosks allow passengers to save time in long queues as they can check in from 24 hours to 60 minutes prior to the estimated departure time, select seats and print the boarding pass at the airport. Passengers traveling without baggage can proceed directly to the security/immigration area with their printed boarding passes.

By the end of 2018, an average 40 percent of Vietnam Airlines passengers leaving Noi Bai, Da Nang and Tan Son Nhat airports have used online check-in services, including those on the airline’s website, mobile app or at airport-based kiosks. The rate often rises to 50 percent during the peak periods such as public holidays and Lunar New Year festival, contributing to reducing airport congestion.
